I just purchased this printer yesterday and have had no luck getting the wireless network connection to stay connected for longer than a few minutes. Currently it's connected to my cisco router via ethernet and works great connected that way. I can AirPrint from all my IOS devices and from my Macbook Air and Windows 7 laptop.
I am able to get the printer to work on wireless for a short period of time - roughly 10 minutes or so. I have sent test prints from my IOS devices as well but eventually the blue wireless light on the printer begins flashing and that means it has lost it's connection. Restarting the router and printer will get the wireless back online for a few minutes and the problem comes back. I read somewhere that power cycling is a "solution" but I don't agree.
Now, I suppose I could leave it plugged via ethernet cord, but I specifically bought this printer for it's wireless printing capability and would have liked the option of moving it to another location away from my router if need be. It should work as advertised in my opinion without having to reset/power cycle anything on a regular basis.
My dad bought the same printer as it was on sale. He has asked me to set it up but hopefully he hasn't opened his box yet. I know he is hoping to use the wireless function due to the spreadout floorplan of his home office.
I have updated the firmware on the printer (and router) to the latest version and set a static IP address as well. DHCP yielded the same results. Following some advice on this forum I have even disabled SNMP though I don't think that would be the problem.
Any thoughts? Is HP even planning on providing future support in the form of firmware updates now that the printer is a pretty much a clearance item?

Hi,
A blinking Wireless light indicates a proper connection and does not indicate any lost of the connection:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02508605
I would rather suspect some wireless network envoirnment issue which prevent printing while the printer enters a Power Save Mode.
Is the printer located nearby your wireless router?
Check for any change while the printer located at the same room\as the router, but no closer than 2m away from the router.
If the same behaviour appears make sure to print a configuration report:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02495036
What is the listed signal quality and wireless channel?
As well please clarify your router model.

Shlomi

Thanks for the reply - yes the printer is located about 3 metres from the wireless router just behind a wall. I wouldn't think the wall would impact connection given the close proximity but I have just moved the printer into the same room as the router to experiment.
So far so good but I'll try printing and connecting to it later in the day. If this works, it's not the most convenient location but it does clear the desktop so I'm fine with it.
I will keep you posted!

Well it lost connection to the router and it was in the same room at the distance you specified with nothing in the way to block or interfere with the signal.
I ran the wireless report you mentioned and in the diagnostic summary it says that the Network Name (SSID) = Fail.
Under Troubleshooting it says An unknown error has occurred. I don't think the problem lies with the router as I've had no other issues connecting with any other wireless device at home and it does work for short periods of time before it fails.
I have moved the printer back and plugged it into the router via ethernet. I may recommend that my dad return his (if he hasn't opened the box yet) if he wants to use his as a completely wireless printer.
How long before HP drops software/firmware support for this model? I am hopeful a driver or firmware update will resolve this issue.

It is not a router problem. I have the exact same problem with this printer. It disconnects after a certain period of time from the internet and, hence Airprint stops working.
Other printers in my house are fine and remain connected via Airprint.
Has anyone else found a solution to this problem with the CP1025NW?

Hi hp_ik
I understand the printer keeps losing the network connection.
I will be happy to assist you with this.
I have provided a document for the printer not maintaining a wireless connection.
I would setup the static IP for the printer to see if this will resolve the issue.
It may not be the printer, it may be your router's inability to wake the printer.
What router are you using?
Can you get into its settings?
If you can then look for and enable "Multicasting".
If not you will have to contact the router company.
Disconnect the routers power cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cable. Wait till it's ready.
As a troubleshooting step, try connecting the printer to the router via an Ethernet cable (cat5). This is just to find out if the printer and the router are having problems communicating via wireless.
If you need more assistance just let me know.

It is not the network that is the problem, its the printer. The wifi shutts off with my printer after unplugging anr re-prugging again. It cannot see any wifi APs any more. I need to do a complet re-retup and than it works again. But after unplugging and re-plugging it back: again the same problem! Its not only not seeing my router any more, also all other APs from my neighbour (that were visible during setup) are also not visible any more. So its clearly a printer-firmware/wifi problem. I installed the laters firmware (Version20130703) and still the same problem.
I have an cp1025nw and an dlink dir-645 router fyi.

I resolved this problem a long time ago but since I'm getting notifications as other people post here, I will post my fix.
My particular problem resided with my Router. The Cisco router I was using was a draft-N vintage and it had been a long time since they posted a firmware update. It ended up flaking out on me and I replaced it with a Time Capsule. I have not had an issue since and I'm thinking that if you have Apple Devices and you want to use AirPrint, it may be best to use an Apple wireless solution...

Same printer, motorola cablemodem w/defult DHCP settings....same problem.
Cablemodem shows a DHCP lease for the printer when it is working, but when the printer is not working and it's web UI is not responsive, it is not in the cablemodem's list of active DHCP leases.
This is basic networking, and HP should be embarrased for suggesting assigning a static IP address as a "fix". None of my other countless devices connected to my router have any problems maintaing a network connection.
As the origninal poster said, the only recovery is to reboot the CP1025NW. Meh.
