HP OfficeJetPro 8710 is asking for password? How do you reset?

I am trying to connect my Apple IPad to the printer with no luck.   iPad is searching for printer and unknown, how do I connect?   I go to setting and I can find the printer and it is asking for a password, I don’t remember setting up a password.   I need to reset.  Please advise.

Hi,

It sounds ike you may be using the wifi direct feature in which the printer generates its own wifi signal to which you can connect directly (although this prevents your device from connecting to the internet). You'll recognise the wifi direct network as it will hav ethe printer name in it. If you see this network it means that you have wifi direct enabled.

If you have a router and home, then disbale wifi direct and connect both printer and all devices connecting to it to your home wifi network and you should then be able to print fine.

1.If it is asking for the password then surely it is the wifi direct network which works without internet connectivity on the printer so the default password that is :12345678

2.However if the printer is already connected to the wireless network {(wifi light will be solid on printer ) then you can restart both the devices at the same time and then try to print any document and check if it founds the printer or says No air printers found .

There is a different solution if it shows No Air printers found..

My issues as not wifi direct feature but rather the user access was enabled ... the fix was on web admin login, check admin setup for Network; Internet Printing Protocol; User Access List  ... uncheck unless you want to use username and password.
