After three days of working on this I have FINALLY solved the problem! Decided to start using this printer after not using it for 5 years. Earlier this week I pulled it out and plugged it in. The LCD screen informed me that the cartridges were empty. Most likely dried up by now. I ordered new cartridges from Amazon. When I installed them I kept getting a notification that they were incorrectly installed. I reinstalled them numerous times along with turning off and back on the printer as well as unplugging it from the wall. Two days of doing this to no avail. I returned them to amazon thinking the cartridges were defective, and they sent me back replacements which I received today. Upon installing them I encountered the same issue! I spent about an hour doing exactly what I had done the two previous days. Called support, which was of no help. Came to this site and tried all of the suggestions given and none worked, UNTIL. I came across a simple suggestion that seemed crazy, but it worked! The suggestion was to take a piece of cardboard(I tore off the flaps from the HP boxes the cartridges came in) and place it on the side of the cartridges and re-insert the cartridges. The tri-color cartridge worked the first time! with the black cartridge it didn't work at first so I kept either folding the cardboard to make it thicker, repositioning the cardboard on the side of the cartridge , and also changing which side of the cartridge I was placing the cardboard. Looking from the front of the printer, as you would insert the cartridges, please the cardboard along the right side of the cartridge and insert the cartridge into its holder. at least in my case. It took me a few tries with the repositioning and making the cartridge thicker, BUT IT FINALLY WORKED! The printer is printing like new!

I was dreading having to buy a new mobile printer, but this worked! give it a try, have a little bit of patience, and it just might work for you as well!
