Im trying to print from my iphone. I just printed wireless from my VAIO so the printer is working properly. but when i try to print from iphone and ipad I get the following message "Printing to "HP OfficeJet 4650 series" Contacting Printer".... then message goes away and I check Print Center and it shows the document print status as waiting. There is no message on the printer itself.

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are having problems printing.
Try restarting your apple device - It's a simple fix that sometimes helps re-establish the connection to the printer.
Also check that you have the most up to date IOS updates installed and consider using the HP smart app to print as it offers much in terms of printing options compared to AirPrint .

The issue with airprint may be related to recent changes in iOS 11 (and also in MacOS 10.12 & 10.13) that affected some HP printers.
HP is providing FW updates for affected printers like yours. Please check for a FW update for your printer, and accept the update if one is available, and then try to print again.
See the support page below for help on checking for a firmware update for your printer:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02919168
If the FW update is not available for your printer yet, the following options may be helpful until the update is available:
Restart the printer
- Provides a temporary fix for the issue
- iOS:
- Print with the HP Smart app (HP Smart app does not use Airprint)
- Supports JPG, PDF, and Office Doc printing
- Print with other iOS apps that don’t use Airprint
Affected printers include the printers below. FW updates are being released as soon as possible for all these printers.
