Hi, I already tried that.  No luck.

As soon as I turned off the Router secuity - it connected - without me even doing anything. As son as I turned the security back on it disconnected.

The network test results are identical to before.

I expect I have a block somewhere in my router settings but I have no idea how to remove it.

Thanks

Hi, Just a quick note to let you know that the printer is now connected and working perfectly.

I just thought you  (and anyone else that has read this thread) might want to know how we got over the finish line.

I did the things you said, which got us to the source of the problem.

The final step was to speak to my Broadband provider (Sky). I don't pretend to understand this but here goes any way:

  • The Router broadcasts in 2 frequencies 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz
  • As standard, the router syncs the 2 frequencies so that any device that can run on the higher one will do so and devices that are not campatible with 5GHz will use the lower one.
  • For some reason (not explained) my device, that has been happily communicating with this router for 6 months, decided that it no longer wished to talk to it.
  • Sky talked me through how to unsyncronize the 2 frequencies and so I now have 2 wireless network connections available - one at 2.4GHz and one at 5GHz.
  • For the printer, I selected the 2.4GHz option and it connected with no problems.
  • I have connectd my laptop to the 5GHz service and that is fine too. It also still talks to the printer - the 2 devices do not need to be on the same channel.

There was a minor irritant in that I have had to reconnect all the other devices in the house to the 5GHz network but that takes about 20 seconds per device so its not really a big deal.

So - a big thank you to Sabretooth04 and hopefully this info might help out somebody else some time.

I have a related problem with an 8600 Pro on a Mac OS 10.13.4 wifi network.  We recently opted for an upgrade to our wifi network with Wave Cable from 100 to 250 mbps.  Their rep came out and collected all our old gear and reconnected us with a single unit by Hitron - an Easy Connect.  Since then the printer will not stay connected.  I have gone through the Wireless Setup Wizard numerous times.  It sees the network and will allow me to use the network password to sign in.  Most times it will indicate that the process was successful.  I can usually then print.  But shortly afterword not.  I can go into the system preferences and click on Printers and Scanners and the printer shows up but is listed as Offline.  Clicking on the Open Print Queue the resulting window says "the printer is not connected".  I have deleted the driver using the Printers and Scanners listing and downloaded and installed new drivers using HP Easy Start to no effect.

So, the printer sees the network but will not stay available for use.  I hope this does not indicate that the printer software is just too old to work with the new network hardware/software.

Any help would be appreciated.  I would have to add that this printer was purchased when a new MacOS made my old HP 5600 inkjet obsolete.
