Since updating to IOS 11.1.2 my print is very very small and after talking to Apple they say to contact HP to see if they have updated their firmware anyone else having a problem and if so do you know when it will be solved. I only want to print as before straight from my icon on the page. Seems very difficult to contact a human at HP

Hello, @Lynmac – Greetings!
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel!
I understand that you are trying to print from your iOS device and is having issues. I'd like help 🙂
Let's try installing the HP Smart app (Previously HP AiO Remote app) to print from your iOS device. Go to Apple Store and install the HP Smart app on your iOS device.
I found a wonderful document which will give you instructions on how to use this app. Please go through the steps here: http://hp.care/2sl1E5V
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @Lynmac
Thanks for the update! Glad to know that you are able to print fine using the HP app 🙂
Now, to fix the issues while printing with AirPrint (from the mail and the browser) try to update the phone again and restart the device. Check for the iOS updates and make sure everything is updated. Restart the iOS device even if there are no updates found.
If the printing is still not proper, try to disable the IPv6 on your printer. Also, assign a static IP address to the printer. Here are the steps:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
- Restart the printer and then router once done.
Now, try to print and check.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @Lynmac
You can try using the Wi-Fi direct feature on your printer to connect the printer directly to the iOS device. Connect your Apple iOS device directly to the printer with Wi-Fi Direct or HP wireless direct as suggested below:
-
On the printer, make sure a solid blue light is on next to the Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct button
or an Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct
icon displays on the control panel. -
Press the Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct button or navigate the control panel menu settings to find and touch Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct.
-
On your Apple iOS device, tap Settings, and then tap Wi-Fi.
-
Under the Choose a network menu, select your printer. The printer name begins with DIRECT.
If prompted, type a password. The default password is 12345678.
Now, try the steps below to print:
- In the app that you want to print from, tap the Action icon (
or
) to display the menu options. - Tap Print. The Printer Options menu displays.
- On the Printer Options menu, tap Select Printer. A list of available printers on the network displays.
- Tap your HP ePrint printer in the drop-down menu. The Printer Options menu displays again and shows your selected printer.
- If you do not need to change print options, tap Print to send the print job to the HP printer.
Let me know how that goes!
Have a great day 🙂
