After a few hours the app says my printer is unavailable and cannot find it-even though its turned on and connected just fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app but still doesn't work.
To get the printer connected I have to reset the printer and set up Wifi again. Then it connects. However, after a few hours, the app says "unavailable" again.
How can this issue be resolved without me having to restart my printers Wifi connection every few hours?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the HP Smart App doesn't work due to the message - "Printer is Unavailable",
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you enable the HP Smart App Plugin for your android device?
Have you checked the printer with any other phone/device to check if that prints?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
HP Print Service Plug is turned off by default when installed, It won't work if it's turned off, hence here's how you could turn it on:
- On your Android machine, go to Settings --> Connections --> More Networks --> Printing --> HP Print Service Plugin.
- Turn on the plugin.
If the issue persists, here's an article explaining how to use the HP Smart App: Click here for steps.

Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

To be clear, the app works fine until the printer goes to sleep. My question is; why does is not recognize the printer after it falls asleep? In order to get the app to recognize the printer once it goes into sleep mode, I have to turn the printer off and back on. Then the app recognizes it and then I can use the scan feature.
I find it strange having to reboot the printer every time the printer goes to sleep just so I can scan fron the app. Why even make a product that needs to be turned off and turned back on for it to function to its full capacity? Is there something I can do to change this? Are all the HP wireless printers like this? By the way, there's no option to disable sleep mode on this particular printer.

Hi,
as @Riddle_Decipher is out of the office today, I'm replying to you. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
Please let me know if you're trying to print using the wifi direct or the wireless network from your Samsung phone. Because both seem to be on. But at any given time, either one will work.
Secondly, perform a network defaults on your Samsung smartphone and check if that helps.
Also, you may update the printer's firmware via this link: www.hp.com/drivers
Hope this works out. Let me know. All the best! 🙂
