LaserJet Pro M15W
iOS 12 - 12.0.1
I am having a lot of difficulty printing to my HP LaserJet Pro M15W. For the first few days I had it, I was printing from an iPad using the HP smart app and it worked great. But now that I am printing from my iPhone 8, I am often unable to print.

The printer is connected to the internet (blue light is on and not blinking) and when I print the information page, it shows me the connection is there and "Excellent" strength. I connect to the printer's WiFi on my phone and enter the HP Smart app. It recognizes my printer and allows me select files to print, but when I actually press "Print", it tells me "There was a problem during printing. Check the printer and try again."

The last time this happened, I tried a bunch of different stuff. I unplugged the printer completely for a few hours, I restarted my wireless routers, and reinstalled the app. Eventually, after about half a day of doing this stuff, I was able to print again. But the next day, I was unable to print, with the same problem.

I have checked my printer multiple times and it seems fine. The fact that I can print the diagnostics page only strengthens this. The warning light isn't on, there is plenty of paper, and no paper jams. Thus, evidence seems to conclude that the problem lies within the HP Smart App. Or perhaps I am missing something.

Is there any direction you could point me in solving this problem? I need my printer to work for school work, and so far am only able to print wirelessly (I run ubuntu and I can't get the HP drivers to work; in any case, I'd much rather print wirelessly).

Update: I am running iOS 12.1.2 on my iPhone 8. Perhaps this is the culprit?  When using my old iPhone 6 and a friend's older iPad, it seems to print more reliably.

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community.

Thanks for the update.

As the printer is working fine, let's try to Update the iOS

go to Settings > General > Software Update and update the iOS.

Restart the phone.

Uninstall the HP smart app and reinstall the app.

Add the printer.

Try to print.
