Hi
I have the same problem, my printer is HP Deskjet 3776 and I just upgrade the latest HP Smart for Iphone (Ios), but the problem also occured with the previous version.
I’m sure that the pdf document is not password protected because I was able to print when I’m using Airprint directly from Safari.
But Airprint doesn’t have the extended option to choose print quality or paper size etc. So I choose to use the share option which available through Safari with “Print with HP Smart”. This is where the problem occurs, the HP Smart loading and ask for password.
My prediction is there is some security limitation in this pdf document but definitely not password protection. I don’t know why the ios version can’t handle this because I also try the same pdf document with android version of HP Smart and it works, there is no dialog asking for password.
Hope HP Smart will fix this issue on the next update.
Thanks
note: here is the link of pdf document that I’m trying to print

The PDF does have a password on it for editing. But according to the security properties, High Quality printing is allowed. There does seem to be something going on with HP Smart possibly reading the security settings wrong.
I will submit this to the SW team.

So why the password dialog doesn’t occur when using airprint ?
Are u suggesting the fault is in the security of the file ? and I’m supposed to export the file first every time I come across with this kind of file ?
It doesn’t occur out of the blue why the fault only occur in HP Smart (ios version) app.
Hope you can escalate this matter to developer team of HP Smart (ios version)
Thanks
