@Jodigw, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Smart Tank 5000!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Smart Tank 5000/5100 All-in-One Printer is showing "Printer is busy" and not printing, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 1-2 minutes, and turn it back on.
  2. Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer and look for any jammed paper inside.
  3. Ensure Sufficient Ink: Make sure the ink levels are not too low.
  4. Restart the Print Spooler (Windows Users):

    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  5. Check the Printer Queue:

    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Smart Tank 5000 and select See what's printing.
    • If there are stuck print jobs, click Cancel All Documents.
  6. Reinstall the Printer Drivers:

    • Uninstall the printer software from your computer.
    • Download and install the latest drivers from HP official website.
  7. Check Network Connection (If Wireless):

    • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
    • Restart your router if necessary.

If the issue persists, try printing a test page from the printer's control panel. If it still doesn't work, let me know, and I can guide you further! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
