Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can't install HP Smart on my system. Windows 10/64 bit.

It appears to download, attempts to install, then there is the message "There has been an error."

The error code is 0x80070003

I need this working to apply for my ink subscription, because the printer has already used up the ink from the sample cartridges to automatically print a heap of useless crap out.

I've tried the HP scan and print doctor, but it can't detect the printer on my network, although it shows up in the DHCP page of the Broadband router with a MAC address and IP address.

Can anyone recommend a printer of similar spec to a Deskjet 2720e which is NOT made by HP?  Because HP's compulsory software simply doesn't work.

1. I can't uninstall HP Smart because it won't install in the first place.

2. My OS is fully updated.

3. I can't update the printer firmware because without HP Smart I can't communicate with it.

Don't worry any further, I took the printer back to John Lewis and exchanged it for a Canon which is excellent and worked first time without all this "Smart" nonsense.

Hi @Lawrence_A,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions-

1)Uninstall HP Smart

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system updates.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

4)Reinstall HP Smart

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
