Hi I am trying to print from my iPhone. I need it to be printed in colour but once I click preview it changes it to black and white with no option to change it. I have changed ink cartridges even though I didn’t need to and it still won’t work. Please help

Hi @Suem8

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining that—since your HP DeskJet 2600 prints in color from other devices, the issue is almost certainly tied to print settings on your iPhone, not the printer or cartridges. Let’s walk through the steps to unlock color printing from your phone:

🎨 Step-by-Step Fix for Printing in Color from iPhone

1. Use the HP Smart App (Not Just AirPrint)

AirPrint sometimes defaults to grayscale with limited settings. Instead:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  • Tap Print Documents or Print Photos.
  • Select your file, then drag the bottom preview panel upward to reveal full print settings.
  • Look for Color Options and switch from Black & White to Color.
  • Tap Print.

This hidden settings panel is easy to miss—here’s a video walkthrough from HP showing exactly how to access it.

🔄 2. Update or Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • Go to the App Store, search HP Smart, and check for updates.
  • If already updated, try deleting and reinstalling the app to refresh permissions and settings.

🧪 3. Try Printing from a Different App

  • Open a photo or document in Photos, Files, or Safari.
  • Tap the Share icon > Print.
  • Select your printer and check for color options—some apps offer more control than others.

🧰 4. Check Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP DeskJet 2600 support page.
  • Download and install the latest firmware update using a computer.
  • Restart the printer and try printing again from your iPhone.

Let me know if you spot the color toggle in the HP Smart app or if you'd like help updating the firmware. You’re super close—just one hidden setting away from full-color prints! 🌈🖨
