Recently changed the ink cartridges and now I cannot print to my HP printer from my HP Chromebook or my mobile device. When I attempt to send any document to the HP printer I receive a message telling me there has been a 'filter failure'.

 

It is frustrating.

Welcome to the HP Support Community

 

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

To assist better:

  • Are you able to make a copy?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents and check if that prints?
  • Filter failed errors are found on Macs, not on Chromebooks. Kindly recheck the error. 
  • Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
