Been using “HP ePrint + Jetadvantage” to print remotely (from Win 10 PC) to a Laser Jet Pro MFP M428fdw since 2021 without problems. Since about 2 weeks ago all attempts to print remotely have failed:
- Using “HP ePrint + JetAdvantage” driver in print dialog box
- Via HP smart app
- Sending to printer by email with attachment
Can’t login in to “JetAdvantage on demand” – all I get is “Failed to communicate with HP JetAdvantage on Demand” error message
HP ePrint registration fails as no email containing PIN is sent to my inbox.
I also have another old printer (OfficeJet 8600) that also no longer can connect up to the HP ePrint service.
Can someone from HP (or anyone else) please confirm that HP has discontinued this service as of several weeks ago. And if so, why no notice anywhere – I have been looking for several days now and can find no reference to this issue.

Hi @atlhomeprint,
Since your LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw has served you well until the HP ePrint service sunset, this might be the perfect time to consider upgrading to a newer model designed specifically for today’s secure remote printing needs.
Many of our latest HP printers come with enhanced cloud printing, built-in HP Smart Advance features, Print Anywhere, and even advanced security, all to make remote and mobile work simpler and safer.
Popular picks for home offices and small businesses:
HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 series, fast, compact, with robust cloud and mobile print support.
HP OfficeJet Pro 9000 series, great if you also want scanning and copying with smart cloud workflows.
HP+ models, include extra smart features, an extended warranty, and HP’s Print Anywhere built in.
If you’d like, I can help you find the best match for your printing habits, and even check if there are special offers or trade-in options that could make your upgrade more cost-effective.
Would you like me to share a few personalized recommendations? I’m here to help make the switch smooth and worthwhile!

Hi @atlhomeprint,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP ePrint Service Discontinuation!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
HP ePrint service, including the remote printing features using the "HP ePrint + JetAdvantage" driver, has indeed been discontinued as of January 31, 2023. This decision was made to streamline HP's focus on other areas of innovation and improve overall support and service delivery. Consequently, this discontinuation could be the reason for the recent issues you are experiencing when trying to remotely print.
Although the HP ePrint service is no longer available, HP provides a variety of alternative methods to enable remote and cloud printing. You can use the HP Smart app, for example, which offers functionalities to manage and print documents from cloud services. Alternatively, you can also explore various network-based printing options supported by your device's native capabilities or third-party applications that are integrated for such tasks.
Since you are encountering login issues with HP JetAdvantage On Demand, it's suggested to:
- Check Connectivity: Ensure that your PC and printer have a stable and active internet connection.
- Reinstall Software: Consider reinstalling or updating the HP Smart app and any associated drivers or software.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. However, I had done what you suggested before I originally posted. Software had been downloaded and reinstalled, and my internet connection is high speed and stable. The server on HP's end just no longer responds. Since the service was discontinued back in Jan 2023 I'm surprised I was still able to print remotely up until just recently. In any case, I'm guessing I'll have to buy a new laser jet that has a more recent hardware/software solution for remote printing.

Well magically HP ePrint service is back up 3 weeks later! Just received in my email box multiple HP ePrint registration messages. These were the messages that never appeared in my inbox when I tried to re-register 3 weeks ago. I now can connect to the HP ePrint service and can print remotely without any problems via the HP smart app. Don't know if anyone at HP is willing to admit it but there was a problem that began about 1 month ago that has now been magically fixed. Good luck to all who have been having problems remotely printing using "HP ePrint + JetAdvantage".
