HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer

Hi!
I have had a problem with my printer lately. It continues to print out paper with horizontal white lines. I have done everything that I recommended to do and I can’t really do it anymore more since the testprints and cleaning tools are included in the total amount of prints monthly. I really need to continue with the cleaning tools but soon I will no longer be ably to print more because of my subscription.
Can the cleaning tools somehow be removed from my subscription so I can clean my printer without having a limit on how many papers I can print monthly? Or what can I do so my printer stops printing out with the white lines above?

Hi @Philippa7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting horizontal white lines in printed documents typically indicate an issue with the printhead or ink cartridges. Here’s how you can resolve the problem while managing your HP Instant Ink subscription and minimizing the impact on your page allowance:

Steps to Fix Horizontal White Lines:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Open the HP Smart app or your printer software on your computer.
  • Verify if any ink cartridges are low or empty. Replace them if necessary.

Run Printhead Cleaning Tools:

  • Go to the HP Smart app or your printer’s control panel.
  • Access the Maintenance or Printer Services menu.
  • Select Clean Printhead or Align Printhead.

Manually Clean Printhead Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer to access the cartridges and printhead.
  • Remove the cartridges and use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printhead.

Use High-Quality Paper:

  • Ensure you’re using compatible and high-quality paper to avoid print defects.

Print in Draft or Low-Quality Mode:

  • In your print settings, choose Draft or Eco Mode to see if this reduces the lines while saving ink and your page limit.
