Hi @ajctwo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP Smart is a mobile and desktop application designed to set up, print, scan, and manage your HP printer. It does not typically require a password to use the application itself. However, if you are looking to change settings or access features that require authentication or a password, you might need to do so through the web interface of your HP printer, not the HP Smart application.

To change the password for your HP printer's web interface, follow these general steps.

  1. Access the Web Interface: You need to access your printer's web interface from a web browser. Typically, you can do this by entering your printer's IP address in the web browser's address bar. You can find your printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer.

  2. Log In: Once you've entered the printer's IP address, the web interface should load. You may be prompted to log in. If you haven't changed the password before, the default username and password are often "admin" for both fields. However, I recommend checking your printer's manual or support documentation to find the correct default credentials.

  3. Change Password: After logging in, you should look for a "Security" or "Password" section within the web interface. From there, you can change your password. The exact steps and options may vary depending on your printer model.

  4. Save Changes: Be sure to save your changes after setting a new password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
