A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
The easiest way to connect HP Officejet Pro 8100 Printer to a wireless network is by using Wireless Protected Setup(WPS). However, the router should support WPS. If your wireless router has a WPS button on it, then use the steps below to connect the printer to your home WiFi:
1.) On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds.
2.) Release the button when the wireless light starts blinking.
3.) Within two minutes, press and release the WPS button on your wireless router.
4.) Wait up to two minutes while the printer and router establish a network connection.
After the printer connects to the network, the wireless light will become steady.
If the wireless router does not have a WPS button, then the only way to connect the printer to a wireless network is by temporarily connecting a USB cable. You may use the steps available here to set up the printer on a wireless network by temporarily connecting a USB cable.
