When I try to enter the network password on the control panel, I am presented with a keyboard the breaks the alphabet into groups of three letters, similar to the old flip phones. How ever, it will not let me select any but the first letter of each group, and if I try to enter multiple times, like texting on old flip phones, I simply get the first letter multiple times.
How do I get the second or third letter to display?

Hi! @PapooJ, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you need to know how to enter network password on your printer.
Don't worry I'd love to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
As you mentioned you are unable to enter network password from the printer control panel.
Please try USB setup of wireless on your printer you can enter the password on your PC instead of your printer.
Try the steps recommended below.
Set up your wireless-capable printer on a local wireless network for a computer with Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP.
Step 1: Prepare for installation
Before setting up the printer on your wireless network, gather the network name and password, and turn on your router, printer, and computer.
Gather the following items:
Network name: The network name is the SSID.
Security passphrase (WEP key or WPA)
A computer that is connected to the wireless network
Internet access (recommended): HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
NOTE:
Internet access is not required for you to install your printer with a wireless connection. However, you do need Internet access to use Web Services, get printer updates, and to download drivers from the HP website.
Your wireless-capable printer: Place it close to the computer during the installation procedure.
Make sure the printer, router and computer are all turned on, and that the computer is connected to the same wireless network you want to connect the printer to.
Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected to the printer.
Optional: If you previously installed the software for a USB connection and now want to change to a wireless network connection, remove the USB installation before you continue.
Search Windows for your printer model name, then click the printer name in the list of results.
The printer software opens.
Click Utilities, then click Printer Setup & Software Selection.
Click Convert a USB connected printer to wireless or Connect a new printer depending on your version of Windows.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. Once the printer has been set up on the wireless network, there is no need to continue with the steps in this document.
Step 2: Connect your wireless printer to a wireless network
Connect your printer to your wireless network using the following steps.
Search Windows for your printer model name, then click the printer name in the list of results.
The printer software opens.
Click Utilities, then click Printer Setup & Software Selection.
If you previously installed the software for a USB connection and now want to change to a wireless network connection, remove the USB installation before you continue
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. Once the printer has been set up on the wireless network, there is no need to continue with the steps in this document.
Step 3: Download and install the printer software
For the latest updates, HP recommends installing the most current version of the full feature printer software from the HP website.
NOTE:
As an alternative method to downloading the software, you can use the installation CD.
Turn on the printer.
If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
If prompted, select a method to identify your printer model, and then follow the on-screen instructions to go to the download page.
Click Download next to the full feature driver (recommended), or click Basic Drivers for other driver options.
Let me know if this works!
Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂

Few things make me as angry as quickly as IT-help-desk copy-paste non-answers like the one above. Having (finally) figured things out on my own, I took the time to set up an HP account just to register my displeasure with the interface design decisions and the lack of support.
In case you are having the same problem, as I did -- I found that there is a relatively narrow window of time wherein the little keyboard will let you toggle the letters. Too fast and it doesn't register, too slow and it just repeats the character. This interval of time seems much smaller than what we're used to on cellphones. It seems like it's not working but keep at it.
Also, if you have special characters in your wifi password, there are TWO screens of special characters, but one of them is hidden behind the other. 123? takes you to the first screen, where you will see #+=, which looks like a button for entering those three characters but actually takes you to another screen of special character buttons. Actually you can tell that #+= goes to another screen because if you hunch down and look at the display directly head-on, you can see that that button is a veeeery slightly darker shade of light grey than the light grey buttons around it (*eye roll*)

Milo, thanks so much, I have changed from ADSL to Fibre Optics and have created a nightmare. But why does it take a community member to sort our problems for us, instead of wading through websites, failure of producers to provide adequate support? I have a password managing app and the provider wants to know when I opened the account, it was years ago, I don't know, but that's not good enough.***
