Trying to print from a mobile device. Get an error saying the printer blocked the print, or that it is busy. It worked once or twice but not sure why it doesn't. Have tried lots of times. Reset router, printer, phones. Sometimes the error message says you may need to approve the print on the printer but there's no way to do this. No display on the printer and only 3 buttons, turn on, copy black, copy colour.
One phone is a bit restricted as it's a work phone, can't install apps on it, the other is unrestricted
Any suggestions?

Hi @Olivern1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering issues with printing from a mobile device to your HP Deskjet F2480 printer. Here are some steps and suggestions you can try to resolve the issue:
Basic Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your mobile device.
Restart Devices: Turn off both the printer and your mobile device. Wait for a few seconds, then turn them back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary communication issues.
Verify Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable and that both devices (printer and mobile phone) are connected to the same network.
Printing Approvals and Permissions:
Since your printer doesn't have a display for approvals and only has basic buttons, sometimes approval is required directly on the printer itself after sending a print job from a mobile device. Here's how you can handle this:
- Manual Approval (if applicable): After sending a print job from your mobile device, check if the printer's control panel lights indicate any error or waiting state (like blinking lights). Pressing the "Copy Black" or "Copy Colour" button may sometimes acknowledge the print job and start printing.
Mobile Printing Apps:
Given that one of your phones is restricted from installing apps, this limits your options. However, if the unrestricted phone can install apps:
- HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on the unrestricted phone. This app is designed to facilitate printing and scanning tasks for HP printers and might provide better control and troubleshooting options than native mobile printing functions.
Printer and Router Settings:
Printer Configuration: If possible, access the printer's web interface (via a computer connected to the same network) to check for any errors or settings that might be affecting printing.
Router Settings: Ensure that there are no firewall or access restrictions on your router that might be preventing the printer from communicating with your mobile devices.
Additional Tips:
Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Deskjet F2480 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve bugs or improve compatibility with mobile devices. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Driver Issues: Ensure that your mobile device has the correct printer driver installed. For most mobile devices, printing should work out of the box without additional drivers, but it's worth checking.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
