Hi @Pigeon4_74-
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer says "printer is busy" every time you try to print something from your iPhone, there are several potential reasons for this, ranging from connectivity issues to a printing queue problem. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Status
- Ensure that the printer is on and ready to print. Sometimes, the "busy" status appears if the printer is off, in sleep mode, or busy with another task.
- Look at the printer’s LCD screen (if it has one) to check for any errors, warnings, or ongoing print jobs. If there’s an error or print job stuck in the queue, try to clear it.
2. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer for about 30 seconds and then turn it back on.
- This can clear any temporary issues and allow the printer to reset, which may resolve the "busy" message.
3. Check for Pending Print Jobs
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Printers (or directly in the HP Smart App if you have it installed).
- Cancel any stuck print jobs or clear your print queue. Sometimes, a print job may be stuck, and clearing the queue can fix the problem.
4. Check Wi-Fi Connection
- Ensure that both your iPhone and HP printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. A network mismatch can cause issues with communication.
- If either device is not connected to Wi-Fi properly, reconnect both devices to the network.
5. Use the HP Smart App
- If you haven’t already, install the HP Smart app on your iPhone and ensure that your printer is correctly added to the app. The HP Smart app can help diagnose printer issues and clear the print queue.
- Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, and check for any errors or tasks that need attention.
6. Reset Print Settings
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and forget the printer from the Wi-Fi settings.
- Reconnect your iPhone to the printer by going back to Settings > Wi-Fi and choosing the printer from the available network.
- This can help reset the connection between your phone and the printer.
7. Check for Firmware or Software Updates
- Make sure that your HP printer firmware is up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP support website or using the HP Smart app.
- Similarly, ensure that the HP Smart app and your iPhone's iOS are up to date.
8. Power Cycle Your Router
- In some cases, the issue might be related to a Wi-Fi connectivity issue. Power cycle your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- After the router has rebooted, reconnect your printer and iPhone to the network.
9. Reset Printer Network Settings (if needed)
- If the issue persists, you may need to reset your printer's network settings and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- To reset, go to your printer’s settings and look for a "Network Setup" or "Restore Network Defaults" option. Afterward, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi networ
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
