Hi @Clhutch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is having trouble with its web services, likely due to proxy settings or authentication issues. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Check Proxy Settings:
- Printer's Web Interface: Access your printer's web interface by entering its IP address into a web browser. Check the network settings to ensure the proxy settings are correctly configured or disabled if not needed.
- Network Configuration: If you're on a corporate or managed network, contact your IT department to ensure proxy settings are correctly configured for your printer.
Update Firmware:
- Go to the HP support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest firmware update. Sometimes updates can fix connectivity and service issues.
Reconfigure Web Services:
- On the Printer: From the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Web Services Setup and follow the prompts to reconfigure or enable web services.
- Using HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device, select your printer, and follow the instructions to set up or re-enable web services.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults to reset network settings. Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and reconfigure web services.
Check Router Settings:
- Ensure that your router is not blocking the printer's access to the internet. Sometimes security settings or firewall configurations can interfere with the printer's ability to connect.
Factory Reset:
- If all else fails, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. Be aware that this will erase all settings and you will need to set up the printer again from scratch. This can usually be done via the printer's menu under Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
