I was scammed by someone pretending to be one of your technicians from the website 123.hp.com

There are a bunch of similar sounding web sites that include the "123" in the website name / address.

Unfortunately, if you typed in anything other than the plain URL heading "123.hp.com", you landed "somewhere else".  For example, if the website included "setup" in the URL, it is a Fake Site.

123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

https://123.hp.com/

Welcome to the HP® Official website to setup your printer. Get started with your new printer by downloading the software. You will be able to connect the printer to a network and print across devices.

Beware of Fake 123 printer sites

  • There are several “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.

  • Notice the website address – the real HP site does not contain any extra verbiage. For example, there is no “setup” or other extra bits in the address.

  • HP websites are the only ones allowed to use the HP copyright circle/logo.  Look for the copyright on any website claiming to be HP.

  • If you are asked for money OR if the “help” wants to log into your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!

Open the website,

Scroll down to the bottom of the page,

Look for the Copyright logo, the year (2018 at this writing), and "HP Development Company, L.P."

Only HP can use the Copyright logo for HP on any HP Website.

If you have found a website proclaiming to be HP and they are using the HP Copyright on their page, HP would like to know about the site.

Without typing out the website name here, let me know that this is the case and I will ask someone to take a look.  (We never give free advertising to fake sites by allowing their links to appear in our forum posts.)

If you are contacted by HP on this forum, that HP agent will FIRST contact you here in a forum post.

All HP agents and HP representatives have the HP logo next to their forum screen name.
