Solved!

In a macOS environment, can HP ENVY have both a wireless and a USB connection?

HP ENVY 7164
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have a macOS desktop computer on my home network. Can I connect my HP ENVY 7164 printer both wirelessly and via a USB printer cable. I want the wireless connection for my iPhone and iPad. I want the USB printer cable to plug into a USB port in the back of my iMac desktop and the squarish port in the printer. The USB connection between iMac and printer will offer faster and more secure printing.

Hi @LADYJANE1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

Yes, you can setup your printer to print via USB from your iMac and wireless from your iPhone/ iPad.

To connect the printer to a wireless network, run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer's control panel -

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Settings.

4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Install the HP Smart app on your iPhone/ iPad to print. You may refer to this document - HP Printers - Install and Use the HP Smart App

To print from your iMac, download and install the software for macOS 10.14 from this link
