Welcome to the HP English Community --

They are not HP.

If you "found" these folks on the Internet,

If they Popped up on your screen,

If they are telling you your computer is full of bugs,

If they claim to want to help if you give them your private information, your credit card number, or your first born,

If they want money

If they want to get into your computer for ANY reason,

Run Away.

Scams and Thieves

Lots of words that mean:  Beware!

====================================

Whomever you contacted was not HP Support.

There are thousands of scam sites on the Internet - they are sneaky, fancy, and so, so convincing.

If you let thieves into your computer, you might have bigger problems than a cancelled check.

  • HP Support does not post free-to-find phone numbers on the Internet,
  • HP Support does not transfer you to scammers and thieves,
  • HP Support does not threaten, promise, lie, beg, or cajole,
  • HP Support does not sneak into your computer,
  • HP Support does not track you later and tell you "It's time for a paid update" for software they sold you the first time.
  • HP Support does not sell any products to clear your computer of imaginary bugs.

HP Support requires that you submit your online in-Warranty Repair request to the proper channel for your region.

Beware of Fake Sites

The "Real Deal"

123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

https://123.hp.com/

Be very careful when out on the Internet looking for help - one little dot, space, or letter out of place can land you in trouble.

The official HP 123 site is where you can find the appropriate (and free) software and drivers for your printer.

There are many “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.

If you are asked for money to correct "issues" on your printer or computer OR if the “help” wants to sell you software, threatens you, or wants access to your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!

Document includes links to USA and Canadian authorities to report the incident.
