I keep getting this error code. I follow the steps described elsewhere - unplug for a minute, plug back in and it prints what's in the queue but then returns to offline mode and the error code reappears.

Hi @CharlieW1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

What model printer are you using?

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Also, check for any jams inside the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thanks Kumar,

I have downloaded the print and scan doctor which tells me I have a driver conflict but there are no instructions on how to fix it

@CharlieW1

  • Did you try making a copy on the printer and check if that works?
  • Also, check if the print carriage is moving freely. Reinsert the ink cartridges.

What model printer are you using?

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks Kumar - I will try this later but in the meantime the printer model is HP Envy 4500 all-in-one printer

Does that red error message on the Print Doctor app mean that the issue is fixed? The printer always prints 1 or 2 sheets after it's been turned off and on again anyway before getting the error message and we only have a few sheets of paper left before I have to go out and buy more so wanted to check before I use up paper on testing this

@CharlieW1

The tab highlighted in red indicates an error. If the issue is fixed, it should turn green with a checkmark.

The error shown is driver related. Let us first check if the hardware of the printer is working fine:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Try making a copy and check if that works and check the print carriage.
