HP Deskjet 2549 All in one printer

I have a HP Deskjet 2540 All-In-One series printer that keeps loosing it's Wi-Fi connection. This has just stated to happen when I had a 5 x wired Network Video Recorder camera system installed. I have a Super Live Plus App installed on my smartphone which allows me to view pictures through each camera when I am away from home. I have used the HP Smart App to reconnect my Wi-Fi connection, following all it's instruction every time, I have TalkTalks latest router which I have reset serval times. I have had the engineer back and we manged to get the printer working but the next day all I have is (can not connect to printer) or printer not available. Any help will be appreciated.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  6. Try to print.

If the issue persists, Assign Manual IP to the printer:

1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.

2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.

3) Open web browser - Chrome or IE or any other browser that you are using.

4) Type the IP address mentioned on Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.

5) Go to the Network tab.

6) Click on Networking from the left pane.

7) Then click on Network Address (IP).

😎 Click on Manual IP Address and go to suggest a Manual IP.

9) Scroll down the screen and select Manual DNS server.

10) Enter the Primary and secondary DNS server from the Network Configuration page into the Manual Preferred DNS server field.

11) Click on Apply.

Refer to the video link for step by step instructions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnYyq80V9g

Note: The video is for win 8 but steps are similar for other operating systems as well. You need to enter the IP address in the browser's URL or the address bar to access the printer page.

Create TCP/IP Port:

1. Search Windows for devices, and then select "Devices and Printers" In the list of results.

2. Right-Click the name of your printer, and then select Printer Properties.

3. Click the Ports tab, click on "Add port" select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "New Port"

4. Click next on the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard, enter the printer IP address and click next and then click on "OK".

5. Now under the "Ports" tab you will find the Newport with the printer IP address, click "Apply" and "OK".

6. Restart the computer.

Check if this helps you!

Hi Raj1788 - I'm not sure what's going on, one minute I can connect to the printer and print, then when I leave it for about an hour I 'm not able to connect to the printer again. Yesterday when I opened my web browser and entered my IP address that I printed off, the web page could not be found. I managed to get the printer working today so I went into my browser and entered my IP address, pressed enter, and the page was found. On the home page all was OK, IP address was correct I have left it alone for another hour and now I can not connect to printer. Have you any idea what may be going on.

Let's restore network settings to default settings.

Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for 5 seconds.

Try connecting the printer back to the network and assign an IP address as mention in the first post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake - Tried holding Wireless button and Cancel button for the 5 seconds - did not work. Turned  Router, Printer and Computer off for 30 minutes and all back on again. Managed to print off your suggestion, Then went into my browser and entered my IP address 192.168.1.20 and was told page could not be found, went back and tried to print and printer not working again. When I managed to get into the browser page earlier on today I went into Network and applied Manual IP address which came up with the IP addresses but when I looked at entering the Primary DNS Server address it had 192.168.1.1 already there and Secondary DNS server had 0.0.0.0. already there and would not let me change these figures. When I applied the settings the next page rejected these settings. I'm not sure how you would change these settings, the only other problem is that the two DNS figures on the screen match the figures on the HP Network Configuration Page I manged to print off. Any help will be appreciated in the matter.

Hi - Just another thing I was reading Raj1788 suggestion again and he suggested to Create TCP/IP Port in Windows. So using add standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard I went through he's instructions and when I got to Enter Printer Name or IP address I entered the IP address 192.168.1.20 clicked next and the next page gave me  Device Type Generic Network Card no new port.

Hope this helps or not.
