I have spent the last few days trying to get my Android phone to connect to my HP 2636 WiFi Direct printer. It worked when I purchased it a couple of month's ago, however since the last updates to the HP Smart (Stupid) software, every time I try to connect to the printer it won't accept the default password 12345678, I have spent countless hours and hundreds of printed WiFi Network Configuration sheets trying to get my Android phone to connect to my printer. Every time I type in the password it says that it's the wrong password. Maybe it's time to move on from HP and buy a Cannon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@AngularByDesign, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Let us try assigning a new WiFi Direct password to the printer-
Simply open an internet browser and enter 192.168.223.1 in the address bar. This will open the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS). In the EWS, click on Network, then on the left, under Wireless Direct Printing, choose Status. In the Status section, click on Edit Settings. You will now see the option to choose on with security and the section to customize the password.
Now, try to connect and print.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Actually, I was able to get it to work by adding the printer in my settings for WiFi Direct devices. Once I added the printer it has worked flawlessly. I appreciate your help and support and I have regained my faith in HP, however I still went through an entire black cartridge and it took many hours of trial and error before I finally figured it out on my own. Maybe you should update your support pages to include the steps of adding the printer to your Wi-Fi Direct devices and steps on pairing with a cell phone.
Thank you again.
