HP Envy 4501
Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

My laptop used to automatically connect to my printer when I pressed the print button. Now I have to bounce from my wifi to the printer's wifi and then disconnect once the printing is finished. I am trying to figure out why this changed and how I can make my laptop automatically connect to my hp envy when I press the print button.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see that your experiencing connectivity issue with HP printer not connecting automatically to the laptop,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

Note: If the Print and Scan Doctor does not find your printer on the Choose Your Product step, click My product is not listed for steps to connect the printer. If a connection problem is detected, follow the instructions provided, and then click Retry.

Try to print. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
