How do I change the settings on my printer for legal size paper printing.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

@greenturtle  - What words of wisdom for printing on Legal paper with HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer   ?

According to the specifications,

The Printer supports Legal size as a Custom Paper Size form.

Media Sizes Custom (imperial)Simplex: 3 x 5 to 8.5 x 14 in; Duplex: 3 x 5.5 to 8.5 x 12.2 in

HP Document: HP Printers - Creating Custom Paper Sizes

What else?

Oddly, the user manual does not specify how one would actually load legal size paper into the tray.

This is perhaps an oversight, the printer does not actually including printing on Legal size paper, or the paper is expected to loaded and just hang over the edge of the tray.

What?

No idea -- I've not used this printer model.

The next challenge:

The user manual does indicate the paper size / type is changed in EWS.

That said, if the Tray and Paper Settings lack Legal paper as a size selection and / or if Tray and Paper does not include "Custom" as a size option, then selecting the paper size would depend solely on what you can do in your print job configuration.

EWS > HP Document / How-to (Original Format)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

EWS – Tray and Paper Management

Original EWS

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model and EWS version Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Important

Applications / Software and job configuration are dependent on the Operating System / version.

Hi @Dragon-Fur

That's a great question!  Do not have a printer to validate if the tray is able to extend out to cater for Legal size paper length.

@LuciaE , are you able to see if the tray can be extended to laod the Legal size paper?

These examples shows how to extend the tray for legal size printing (2 different designs)

If there is no way to extend the tray, then just load the Legal paper and let it rest over the tray.

Moreover, since Legal size printing is only available through setting a Custom paper size (and selecting it for print), here's how to create a Custom paper size (for Windows only):

Hope that helps!
