I am attempting to use the HP Smart app to send a fax using the Mobile Fax tool.  The tool asks me to log in, and after I enter my userid and password, the program replies with the error:

X-request-id: 8ce34190-8db7-11ef-aaeb-9359c790511f.89840160-9ae6-11ef-aaeb-9359c790511f

I know that my userid and password are correct because I have successfully used them to log into other HP applications.

Hi @login_error,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it is to encounter login issues when trying to use HP Smart's Mobile Fax tool, especially when you know your credentials are correct.

The error message with the X-request-id suggests a possible issue with the HP Smart app's connection to HP’s servers. Here are some steps that may help resolve it:

Clear Cache and Data for the HP Smart App:

  • On mobile, go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart, then select Clear Cache and Clear Data.
  • Restart the app and try logging in again.

Update the HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app, as updates often contain bug fixes and improved stability.

Log in via Browser First:

  • Try logging in directly on the HP Smart website (https://www.hpsmart.com) using your browser, as this can sometimes refresh your login credentials for the app.

Reinstall the HP Smart App:

  • If the issue persists, uninstall the HP Smart app and reinstall it from the official app store. This can resolve any corrupted files that might be causing login issues.

Switch Network Connections:

  • Try connecting to a different network (such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi) to see if it makes a difference. Occasionally, network-specific settings can interfere with app connections.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Elohi_NR,

Thanks for your detailed response.  I tried all the suggestions you listed, but unfortunately I was still unable to log in to the app on Windows 11.

A couple more pieces of troubleshooting info:

1) I was able to log in to the HP Smart website using a browser;

2) I installed the HP Smart app on my iPhone, and was able to log in there.

I contacted the HP Techical Support team requested that I enroll in a paid support plan to fix the problem. I am not interested in doing this, so I will leave the issue as unresolved.

To solve the issue, use antoher Browser!

The browser works correctly and I am able to log in to my account.  The issue is with the HP Mobile Fax App, which requires a login.  This login fails even when the same login credentials are used.

HP is only interested in money. Its products, such as computers, printers, and software, are inferior, and its printers do not last more than a year or two. I printed less than ten times on one HP Officejet 7610 series in about four years, and it packed up because the printhead would not work; no suitable replacement could be found. I had to throw away my HP 500 and another HP Officejet 7610 series for the same reason.

Now, I am having problems with my HP Officejet 7740 Pro. HP Smart would not let me sign in, and HP ignored all my help requests.

The displayed message by HP Smart is “An error has occurred.

X-request-id: dfef3f40-ce87-11ef-aa21-b3c3650b146a.e2a918c0-d411-11ef-aa21-b3c3650b146a”

I do not think HP is ignorant of this error. They want customers to buy another product.

Hi,

I am having the same issue here. I can not even use my scanner without logging into their bs useless account. This whole company is a joke. This is the worst printer/scanner I ever owned.
I will never buy HP again and will advise everyone around me also to avoid these scammers.
Hope they all choke on a bag of danks!
