I am trying to connect my hp officejet 6600/6700 to my wireless  internet and I keep getting this message that the MAC address filtering  may be enabled on your wireless router. So what do I do to get this to work?

Hi @miss208,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If you're trying to connect your HP OfficeJet 6600/6700 to your wireless network and are encountering issues related to MAC address filtering, here's how to proceed:

1. Find the MAC Address of Your Printer

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the Setup menu (usually represented by a wrench or tools icon).
  • Select Network or Wireless Settings.
  • Choose View Wireless Status or Print Network Configuration. This will print out the printer's network settings, including the MAC address. The MAC address is typically a series of six pairs of alphanumeric characters (e.g., 00:11:22:33:44:55).

2. Access Your Router's Settings

  • Open a web browser on your computer or device that is connected to the same network.
  • Type your router's IP address into the address bar. Common IP addresses include 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. You may find the exact address in the router’s manual or on a sticker on the router.
  • Log in to the router using the admin username and password. If you haven’t changed these, they are often set to default values found in the router's manual.

3. Locate MAC Address Filtering

  • Once logged in, navigate to the Wireless or Security settings section of the router’s interface.
  • Look for an option related to MAC Address Filtering or Access Control.

4. Add the Printer’s MAC Address

  • If MAC address filtering is enabled, you will need to add the MAC address of your HP OfficeJet 6600/6700 to the allowed list.
  • Look for an option to Add or Permit a device, and enter the MAC address you noted earlier.
  • Save the changes and reboot the router if necessary.

5. Disable MAC Address Filtering (Optional)

  • If you prefer to simplify your network setup, you can also disable MAC address filtering entirely. This will allow any device to connect to the network without needing to be added to a list.
  • Keep in mind that disabling MAC address filtering may make your network slightly less secure.

6. Reconnect Your Printer to Wi-Fi

  • After updating the router settings, return to your printer and try connecting it to the Wi-Fi network again.
  • Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the wireless setup option and select your network. Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted.

7. Test the Connection

  • Print a network configuration page from the printer to verify that it is connected to your wireless network.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully connect your HP OfficeJet 6600/6700 to your wireless network despite MAC address filtering. If you encounter any further issues, I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
