My hp printer says I have an expired certificate so I can't print from my new Mac book air. Is there a **bleep** number I can call for help with this??

@Purple1960-_, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The “Encryption Credentials Expired” error you're seeing on your HP printer when printing from your MacBook Air is related to an expired SSL certificate used by the printer for secure communication (especially with AirPrint and IPP printing on macOS).

Here's how to fix it:

Option 1: Regenerate the Certificate via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

You’ll need access to a Windows PC to complete this process, as the certificate management option is not available in the mobile view of the EWS.

Find your printer’s IP address:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Network Settings or Wireless Settings and locate the IP address.

Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • On a Windows PC, open a browser and type the printer’s IP address into the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.100).

Generate a new certificate:

  • Go to the Network tab.
  • Expand Advanced Settings > click Certificates.
  • Click Configure, then select Create a New Self-Signed Certificate.
  • Click Next, then Finish.

Restart your printer and try printing again from your Mac.

Option 2: Use HP Smart App’s Diagnose & Fix (macOS)

If you don’t have access to a Windows PC, try using the HP Smart app on your Mac:

  1. Download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
  2. Open the app and go to Diagnose & Fix.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot and repair the connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
