Last week I was able to print to my HP Envy 4500 from my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, both running El Capitan. However, when I went to print today, neither computer can find my printer.
I have attempted everything I've found on these discussion boards...resetting the network, powering everything off, turning off iPv6, etc to no avail.
I have resorted to a USB cord to print today and when I went into the utility of the printer connected by USB, I was able to select set up Wireless, but again, get the message: Device not reachable. It notes the wireless network settings were successfully downloaded to my device, however, your Mac was unable to locate the device on the network. My Mac's are both connected to the same wireless network.

Hi,
I would restart your macs and try the above steps again - if this doesn't prove succesful, I would then restart your router and try the steps again.

Hi,
Try removing any printers and then re-adding them by opening the preferences tab and then selecting "printers & scanners".
From there, click the minus sign under teh printer icon to remove the printer and then re-add it using the plus sign.
This often helps if you are experienceing printer offline issues regularly. Try the above without the USB cable connected first and then if you still can't establish a connection try with the USB and then remove it once the wireless connection is setup.
