Hi @Mix5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Pick Motor Stall" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus typically indicates an issue with the paper feed mechanism. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer’s internal components.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Inspect the paper path for any obstructions or paper jams. Remove any jammed paper carefully.
  • Open the printer’s front and rear access panels to check for any stuck paper.

3. Inspect the Paper Tray

  • Ensure the paper tray is loaded correctly with the right size and type of paper. Make sure the paper guides are adjusted properly.
  • Remove the paper and reload it, making sure not to overfill the tray.

4. Clean the Pick Rollers

  • The pick rollers may need cleaning. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with water to clean the rollers. Rotate them manually to ensure you clean the entire surface.
  • Allow the rollers to dry before trying to print again.

5. Check for Mechanical Issues

  • Open the printer and check for any visible mechanical issues. Look for any loose parts or obstructions in the paper feed area.

6. Run Printer Maintenance

  • From the printer’s control panel, navigate to the maintenance menu and perform any available diagnostics or maintenance tasks.

7. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  • If the issue persists, consider resetting the printer to factory settings. This option can usually be found in the printer’s settings menu.

8. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer model and install them if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
