HP ENVY 4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP ENVY 4500 printer is not printing properly. Using HP Print and Scan Doctor I was told to uninstall the existing software and reinstall the software, either from the original CD or download from the HP website. I tried this and nothing is working. I still cannot print. Can anyone help me?

Hi @muzzem

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Do you get any errors while printing?
  • How is the printer connected to the PC?
  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow  to scroll to Tools, and then press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow  to scroll to Print Quality Report, and then press OK. The printer prints the test page.

If the printer is able to make a copy and print a test page fine, it means the hardware is working fine and we can troubleshoot on the drivers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
