HP ENVY Photo 7155

My HP ENVY Photo 7155 doesn't see that my wifi network is WPA2 and says that it is not encrypted.

When it fails to connect, the wireless test results say that "MAC address filtering may be enabled" which as far as I know, is completely false.

@anyalouise,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

Let's try these steps:

Step 1: Power Reset

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • Try to connect the printer to WiFi again
  • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step

Step 2: Reset the network settings on the printer

  • On the printer control panel, touch the icon
  • Go to Network Set Up
  • Restore Network Settings > Yes
  • Restart the printer
  • Try to connect the printer to WiFi again

neither of these worked.  I'm very confused because every other device detects the encryption and connects just fine, but my printer doesn't see it.  Also, it detects that my neighbors wifi is encrypted, just not mine for some reason.

 @anyalouise,

Let's restart the Router and the Printer.

  • Turn off the WiFi router.
  • Restart the Printer
  • Turn the Router back on
  • Try to connect the printer to the network again
  • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step

Update the firmware on router and printer.

  • Check if there are any updates on the Router and install it.
  • Also, update the printer firmware.
    • Refer to this link to update the printer firmware.
  • Try to connect the printer again to the WiFi

Let me know what happens.
