Currently my HP ENVY Photo 7858 is connect via both WiFi and USB. Can I disconnect the USB and still print from my PC? I would like to move my printer to a location that can't reach the PC via USB. (Windows 11)

Hi @RidpathD ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY Photo 7858 is connected to your Wi-Fi network, you should be able to print from your PC without the need for a USB connection. The USB connection is typically used for initial setup, but once the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network, you can print wirelessly.
Here's what you can do to check and ensure that your printer is set up for wireless printing:
Verify Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure that your HP ENVY Photo 7858 is connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can check this on the printer's display or through the printer settings.
Remove USB Connection (Optional):
- If your printer is already connected to your PC via USB, you can disconnect the USB cable. The wireless connection should still allow you to print.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows 11 PC. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
Set the Wireless Printer as Default:
- Go to "Settings" on your Windows 11 PC.
- Select "Devices" and then "Printers & scanners."
- Make sure that your HP ENVY Photo 7858 is set as the default printer.
Test Printing:
- Open a document or image on your PC.
- Click on "File" and select "Print."
- Choose your HP ENVY Photo 7858 from the list of available printers.
- Click "Print" to test the wireless printing.
Once you have confirmed that your printer is working wirelessly, you can move it to a location that is out of reach for a USB connection. Keep in mind that both the printer and the PC need to be on the same Wi-Fi network for this to work.
If you encounter any issues, you may need to troubleshoot the wireless connection or reinstall the printer drivers. Additionally, you can refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions related to your printer model and Windows 11.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
