Hy HP Envy 5530 printer will not print at all.  It has ink in both cartridges.  When I try to print, it's just a blank piece of paper.

Hi @b-sullivan1_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 5530 printer is not printing and only outputs blank pages, even though it has ink, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Ink Cartridge Levels and Health:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are not only filled but also that they have not dried up, especially if the printer has not been used for a while.
  • Replace the cartridges if they are old or low on ink.

Run the Printer's Cleaning Cycle:

  • Use the printer's built-in tool to clean the ink nozzles. This can often resolve issues with blank prints as it helps to clear clogged nozzles.
  • Check your printer's manual or the on-screen printer menu for instructions on how to run a cleaning cycle.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Check that the paper size and type settings on the printer and within your print driver settings match the paper you are using.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your model.
  • Alternatively, uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers to ensure they are correctly configured.

Examine the Print Spooler:

  • Restart the print spooler service on your computer. This service manages print jobs sent to your printer. Restarting it can help clear any stuck print jobs that could be causing issues.
  • On a Windows PC, you can do this by going to Services, finding Print Spooler, right-clicking it, and selecting Restart.

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • Make sure the printer is correctly connected to your computer or network. Check all physical connections (like USB cables) or confirm that your Wi-Fi network is connected if it's a wireless printer.

Try a Different Software or App:

  • Sometimes, the issue might be with the specific application from which you are trying to print. Try printing from another program to see if the issue persists.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel (not from the computer) to determine if the problem is with the printer itself or a connection issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
