My iPhone 14 stopped printing on my HP printer

I can print from my MacBook Pro, however, I am not able to print from my iPhone and I used to be able to. What has happened.  When I click printer, I see my printer on my iPhone. I click it, but it won’t recognize and will not print from my iPhone

Step 1: Verify Network Connection

• Ensure your printer and iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
• On the printer, go to Settings → Network Setup → Wireless Settings and confirm it’s connected.
• On your iPhone, go to Settings → Wi-Fi and check that it's connected to the same network.

Step 2: Restart Everything

• Restart your printer: Power it off, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
• Restart your iPhone.
• Restart your Wi-Fi router.

Step 3: Check AirPrint Status

• The HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 supports Apple AirPrint, which iPhones use for printing.
• On the printer, make sure AirPrint is enabled:
  1. Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
     • Find the printer’s IP address (check printer screen under Wireless Settings).
     • Enter the IP address in a web browser on your Mac or iPhone.
  2. Go to Network → AirPrint and ensure it's enabled.

Step 4: Forget & Re-add Printer on iPhone

• On your iPhone, go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
• Tap the (i) next to your Wi-Fi network and select Forget This Network.
• Reconnect to Wi-Fi and try printing again.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

• If your printer firmware is outdated, it might cause AirPrint issues:
  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Printer Update → Check for Updates.

Step 6: Try the HP Smart App

• Download and open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
• Add the printer and try printing from there.
