I have a new HP printer and it won’t print anything unless via the HP app, I’ve tried from websites, Amazon, cricut - none will work, the printer shows up as an option and then disappears. Any ideas?

Welcome to the HP English Community --
I would guess the printer is connected to your network SSID named network for 2.4GHz.
Why?
NOTE: The printer only supports 2.4GHz connection.

It makes sense (to me) that if HP Smart works that the built-in iOS Airprint app should work, as well.
If not done,
Consider / Try AirPrint
