Hi @Div19,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your phone is connected to the printer through Wi-Fi Direct, but it's not accepting print commands wirelessly. Here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is not in a "sleep" or "idle" mode that could be preventing it from responding to wireless commands. Try pressing any button on the printer to wake it up.
  • Verify that Wi-Fi Direct is properly enabled in the printer settings. Some printers may have an option to disable Wi-Fi Direct when other network connections are used.

Confirm Wireless Direct Connection:

  • On your phone, confirm that you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi Direct network from your printer, and ensure that your phone’s Wi-Fi is connected directly to the printer's Wi-Fi network (not a separate router or hotspot).
  • Sometimes, disconnecting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi Direct network helps re-establish the connection.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, issues with wireless functionality can be resolved with a firmware update. Check the HP website for any available updates.

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • You can print a network configuration page directly from the printer's control panel. This will give you a summary of the current network settings, which can help identify any misconfigurations or issues.

Reset Wi-Fi Direct:

  • Try resetting the Wi-Fi Direct settings on the printer. This will help clear any stored connections or settings that might be causing a conflict. After resetting, reconnect the phone via Wi-Fi Direct.

Try Using HP Smart App:

  • If you're using an app (such as HP Smart or a printing app), ensure that it's updated to the latest version. Try printing through the app instead of directly from the document.

Reboot Both Devices:

  • Restart both the printer and your phone to refresh network settings.

Check Printer’s IP Address:

  • If your printer has an IP address (which can be found on the network configuration page), try printing using the printer’s IP address on your phone or tablet.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
