My HP ENVY 5540 was working fine as of yesterday... it will still scan things and place them on our Dell Computer/Windows 10, but it is showing Offline if I try to print. WiFi is fine and the printer status report shows normal... and it did print the report so there is no paper jam or anything like that... the wireless communication is obviously fine or the scan wouldnt work ... I ran some HP software recommened for printer/scan problems, but all it did was get hung up on Do you want to make this your default printer? which it was previously (and our *only* printer by the way) and even after I said YES it didnt do anything except me to ask me to take a survey if I was happy with the software....
I also did a system OS restore back to yesterday before the problems happened and that did not do any good so if there were any windows updates applied then it should have removed them.
Any ideas would be much appreciated please email to

@Roondog238, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same Wireless network.
This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.
Check the connectivity
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- If you get any security notification, click on show details and 'proceed to this website'.
- Go to Tools > Print a Test page.
Let me know how this goes. Keep me posted for further assistance.
