Hi @CJC-6

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP printer is only printing part of an image, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Considering you've already performed alignment and cleaned the cartridge heads, here are a few advanced troubleshooting tips:

1. Update Printer Drivers and Firmware

Ensure your printer drivers and firmware are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers or firmware can cause printing issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website:

2. Check Print Settings

Verify your print settings in Microsoft Office and ensure they match your requirements. Sometimes incorrect settings can result in partial prints.

3. Use Embedded Web Server

Check the print job queue and manage any pending or hold jobs:

  • Access the Embedded Web Server.
  • Manage queue settings to see if any job is being held or interrupted.

4. Manage Print Queue

Ensure the settings match to start printing at the appropriate point:

  • From the Web server, select Settings tab > Device setup > When to start printing.
  • Choose After Processing for best print quality.

5. Perform Image Diagnostics Print

Conduct an Image Diagnostics Print to identify potential issues with printhead performance and alignment.

  • Ensure you have paper of at least A3 size loaded into the printer.
  • Select Internal prints > Image diagnostics prints and follow the instructions provided.

6. Clean Electrical Connections

In some cases, ink deposits on the electrical connections between the printhead and the printhead carriage can disrupt printing. Follow these steps to clean the connections:

  • Use the carriage interconnect wiper and pre-moistened sponge provided in the maintenance kit.
  • Clean both the printhead carriage and the printhead electrical connections thoroughly.

7. Manual Printhead Cleaning

A more hands-on approach could involve manually cleaning the printheads with distilled water and lint-free cloth to reclaim functionality:

  • Remove the printhead.
  • Use distilled water on a lint-free cloth to gently clean the printhead.
  • Reinsert and run an alignment test.
