Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Only PDF not regular printing signs come up when trying to print on mobile (Problem 1) and  (Problem 2) even then nothing when happens when I accept that. (HP Smart diagnostic says connections ok.)

This has happened before and called HP human help. Just wondered if others have run into this and if there is a solution owners can do on their own.

Hi @pmcmillan12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure HP Smart App Configuration

  • Ensure that you are using the HP Smart app for mobile printing. HP Smart is optimized for seamless integration with HP printers.

Restart Printer and Mobile Device

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on
    • Restart your mobile device to ensure any temporary glitches are cleared.

Update the HP Smart App

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed:
    • Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and check for updates to the HP Smart app.

Check Printer and Device Connection

  • Verify that your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.

Reset Printer Settings

  • Perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve any configuration issues:

Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

Try Different Printing Method

  • Attempt to print using a different method within the app:
    • Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, and choose the Print Documents or Print Photos option, instead of selecting a PDF file.

Clear Printer Queue and App Cache

  • Ensure there are no stuck print jobs in the printer queue. Go to Settings on your HP Smart app, select Print Queue, and clear any pending jobs.
  • On your mobile device, go to Settings -> Apps -> HP Smart, and clear the cache.

Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app to fix any potential issues with the app itself:
    • Uninstall the HP Smart app, restart your device, and then reinstall the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

I hope this helps.
