Perhaps try adjusting the color and intensity of the Image after scanning and before saving the image to file.
The example illustrates having selected a PDF type scan --
With the appropriate changes to the Preset type, Edit > edit options also apply to Scanning as an image.
After you Scan > Select to Edit > Select the Adjust option
