OfficeJet 5255 touchscreen password entry keys have 2 or 3 choices - how to use

Good lord, what I have to go through for what I thought was an easy question:  on OfficeJet 5255, the touchscreen to enter a router password offers 2 or 3 choices per button. How do I choose a certain number or letter?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

It is simple. If you need the letter A, tap the 'abc' button once. For B tap it twice, For C tap it thrice.

Likewise, if you need the letter Q, tap the pqrs button twice.

For any symbols/characters, tap 123? button.

For Capital letters, tap the 'Up arrow' button.
