I am having the same issue.  My 8610 Officejet will print once in a while but no consistency.

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

What is the Operating System installed on your Computer?

How frequently does the printer lose its connectivity?

Keep me posted.

Cheers 🙂

The operating system is Mac OS Siera 10.12.6

We recently moved, the printer used to work fine with our Xfinity router, but when we moved to a city with a different ISP, is when the issues with the new Hitron router began.  Atlantic Broadband (the new ISP) brought a replacement router that was an Arris and that did not work either.

The router is set to 2.4GHZ

The printer does not print very often at all.  Things seem to get locked in the queue and then print hours later or the next day, if at all.

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results?

Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.

The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera.

Keep me posted.

Cheers 🙂

Let us try some additional troubleshooting steps-

Restore the network defaults on the printer-

  • Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then select Yes.
  • A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

Restart the printer and try configuring the printer on the wireless network.

  • On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.
  • Touch Wireless, touch Wireless Setup Wizard and then touch OK.
  • Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Keep me posted.

Cheers 🙂

*The Officejet 8600+ printer only connects to the 2.4G band in your router.  The router must have the 2.4G SSID band enabled with a different SSID name than your 5.0G SSID band in your router.

* Set router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never ‘auto’.  Try channel 1 first then the others one at a time.

* Make sure printer and router are at least 5 feet apart.

* Make sure IPv6 is disabled in the printer.

Refer to this document for help.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
