My printer has decided it will not connect to my network - it used to.  I've reset to factory defaults and then ran the wizard, found my network, enter the password, but it doesn't connect.  Blue light is flashing.  I printed test results and under Settings, No Filtering fails.  I do not have MAC filtering turned on.  My router is an Asus RT-AC86U.  Anything I can try?

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, your printer does not connect to the network,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Are you connecting to 2.4Gh or 5Ghz network?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Power Reset:

Restart the router and printer

Restart the router and printer to resolve any connectivity error states.

NOTE: The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections.

Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before performing these steps, and bookmark this page to keep troubleshooting if wireless issues persist.

  1. Turn off the router by pressing the power button or disconnecting the power cord.

  2. Turn off the printer and make sure any USB or Ethernet cables are not connected.

NOTE: If the printer is connected with a USB or Ethernet cable, the printer cannot connect wirelessly.

  1. Reconnect the power cord to the router or turn it back on, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.

  2. Turn on the printer, then try to print.

Firmware update: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Then try reconnecting the printer to the network.

If the issue persists, try Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection: Click here

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!

Hi FB and thanks for the reponse.  To answer your questions first, the printer last worked a couple weeks ago, and I don't think I've installed any updates to any of the network components or printer.  I'm connected at 2.4Ghz (my router does support 5Ghz, but the printer doesn't list that ssid, so I connected at 2.4 and that's always worked just fine.  I've restarted the router, modem and printer several times, but this hasn't changed anything.  Since I cannot connect to my network, I connected via usb to update the firmware.  I connected the usb cable, started the printer and printed a test page just to be sure the laptop and printer were communicating.  I downloaded the firmware and ran it.  It lists my printer's serial number (with a few extra characters added to the end) but I cannot check the checkbox next to it and the Update button is grayed out.  I hope this helps with the next step of diagnosis.  Thanks again!

Thanks for trying these steps,

Let's try updating the Firmware from the printer control panel. Steps are mentioned in this link: Click here (Update directly from the printer)

No luck there...I did try updating firmware from the laptop again, and I noticed that the reason it won't let me check the box or update is that it says "up to date".

Hi FB.  I think the problem may lie with my router.  I cannot connect any devices on the 2.4GHz band.  I am working with customer support now and will update when I conclude that effort.

Thanks for you help in the meantime.
