Moto Force Z²
Android 8.0 - 8.1 Oreo

Greets-   I have a Moto Force Z² phone running Android 8.0.0.  I am using the Android office suite WPS.  Writing a novel.  Using WiFi tried printing using the Android HP Print Service plugin v 1.8.1-3.1.3-16-18.3.80-773 and the HP All-in-one 2652 printer.

Would print header but page number in footer would not print.

The HP Print Service UI would allow setting range of pages and whether printing even or odd pages
but altho the preview tab showed page numbers
the preview shown after hitting print would not.
When printed none of the pages showed page numbers.

Tried putting page numbers in the header since it seemed to print ok.
Still printed header text but not page numbers.

Went to a friend's place and had him print the doc using Microsoft Word and a laser printer.    Page numbers printed fine.

It would appear that the HP Print Service plugin has an issue with page numbers.  Any advice or suggestions?

Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi,

Your printer does not support borderless printing, its bottom margins are higher and the bottom 12.7mm (1.27cm) margins are not printable.

See its specifications below:

Minimum print margin, bottom (A4)
12.7 mm

By enlarging your document’s footer margins to be at least 1.27cm and moving the page numbers higher, then it will be printed by the printer.

Greets-    1.27 cm is .5 in. or a ½ inch margin.  I have a 1 in. margin set all around.  Tried moving the footer but no joy, couldn't find a way to move it.  Tried moving the bottom margin up but footer didn't rise any higher.  Doesn't look like it is within the ½ inch or 1.27cm limit but footer won't print text OR page numbers so it must be.  Didn't work when I put the page number in header top right.  Printed header text but not page number.  Tried putting page number in center of header.  Still no joy.  Text yes, page number no.

Further experimentation resulted in discovering certain limits to header text.  I noticed on a previous printing of pages to take to my writers group that the last letter was missing on the far right header text.  I readuced the number of spaces between the left and right header text and all text letters printed.  Also the page number in the center printed.

Evidently there is a limit on the number of characters that can be printed in the header text.

Unclear whether this is an HP Print Plugin, WPS Office Suite, or printer issue.  At this point I'm not sure I care as I have a work-around.

Thnx 4 Ur input.  Seems odd the printer has that limitation.  If WPS allowed me to move the header up then all this flailing could possibly have been avoided.

Thnx again.  At least if anyone encounters this same issue and has the same setup they now have a work-around.
