Product: ENVY 4520
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

A cable was caught in my paper tray when I closed it.  After removing it I keep getting a message that says my paper tray is open and it won't print.  How can I get rid of this message?

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting paper tray is open error message on HP ENVY 4520 printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue. 

  • Make sure that the input tray is completely closed.
  • Reload the paper in the input tray.
  • Check for obstructions that prevent the input tray from closing.
  • Restart the printer.

Click here to refer the document and perform troubleshooting steps to fix this issue.

(Note: Though this printer model is not mentioned in the title, but these troubleshooting steps should fix the issue.
